(Book #3 of The Iron Druid Chronicles)
Rating: 🍁🍁🍁
This was my least favourite of the series thus far. Which means it was still a good book.
The Good Stuff:
1) I appreciate the fact that Atticus is having to deal with the consequences of the decisions that he makes. In far too many stories all kinds of exceptions are made for the main character(s) so that they don't have to deal with any unpleasant results of their actions (coughHarry Pottercough). I expect that Atticus will survive the mess he's currently in, but if Hearne ends up providing an easy out, my respect for this series may not survive.
2) The tone of this installment is definitely darker as well, which could have made it a bit less enjoyable, but Hearne still demonstrates the wicked sense of humour that made me laugh out loud throughout.
The Not-So-Good Stuff:
1) Where did everyone go? There was no widow, no Oberon, no Granuaile...just a bunch of pissed off superheroes (or minor gods, or whatever) who want to kill Thor for their own reasons. And outside of the Russian lightning god (whose name escapes me right now), I honestly didn't care what happened to any of them.
