(Book #2 of the Damar series)
Rating: 🍁🍁🍁🍁
Robin McKinley is undoubtedly one of the best authors out there (IMHO), and The Hero and the Crown is a great example of why. The Blue Sword, which is the first book in this series, is one of my favourite books of all time, so I had pretty high expectations going into this one. I'm so glad they weren't disappointed. What kept this from being a 5 maple leaf book was the almost anti-climatic battle between Aerin and the Big Bad near the end. I still have no idea what really happened, other than that Aerin apparently spent 200 years climbing stairs?
Still, I loved discovering the origins of many aspects of Damarian culture introduced in The Blue Sword, like the hunting cats and the laprun trials. I also loved the insight into Luthe and his relationship with Aerin. All in all, a fun read!
