This was a pretty solid read. Not remarkable, but not terrible. I understand it's the author's first book, so all told it stood up pretty well.
My favourite thing? Jupe, the 13-year old son of the male lead. If you're familiar with my reviews at all, you understand that this is a huge deal. He's an adolescent boy, but he doesn't annoy the crap out of me. He's also his own fully-developed character rather than a plot device.
My least favourite thing? Lon (the male lead) has a porn-stache. And a soul patch. A blonde porn-stache/soul patch combo. Seriously?! This is supposed to be attractive?? I had to change my mental Lon, and give him some heavy scruff instead in order to make him work as a romantic lead.
