(Book #1 of the Rhiannon's Law series)
Rating: 🍁🍁🍁
Let me say right up front that this is not a book for the faint of heart - some messed up stuff is dealt with in these pages. The main character tends bar at a strip club and has a horrific past. Consider yourself warned.
That being said, none of the messed up-ness is gratuitous. It feeds the plot and the character development throughout. And there is development, which is one of the things that I enjoyed about the novel. Rhiannon manages to achieve significant personal growth over the course of the events.
The vampires? Meh. Nothing remarkable. They serve their purpose plot-wise.
The plot? Plausible, fast-paced, well executed and entertaining.
One little thing really bugged me, though. Rhiannon made a big deal about how she's sworn never to speak of her past to anyone, and then she all of a sudden blabs the entire thing to a virtual stranger. Huh? I get that she was pissed at the time, but it just didn't seem consistent with who she was.
All in all, a solid addition to the UF world. I'll definitely be seeking out the next installment.
