Overall, really enjoyed this story. I love that Natalya is genuinely
flawed - she's not clumsy, or struggling with undeservedly low
self-esteem, or orphaned, or any of the other well-trodden paths to a
flawed character. She had a legit mental illness, similar in substance
if not in tone to Carolyn Crane's The Disillusionists trilogy.
Can't
say I'm a big fan of this iteration of the pack, though. I like my
packs strong and supportive rather than cruel and political. Still,
there's a significant amount of un-plumbed depth in this world that I'm
now curious about. While I won't read the book again, I will probably
look for book 2 to see what happens next.
