Much better! Now that the world has been established and the main players introduced, A Local Habitation doesn't suffer from the pacing problems of the first book in the series, Rosemary and Rue.

It was also refreshingly light on metanarrative plot. There were hints of it, but that was all. I enjoyed the opportunity to see October more in her element as an investigator rather than overwhelmed by forces beyond her control.

My only major beef? She really needs to get over Connor. I don't know why, but I've never really liked him. What I want to see is more Tybalt. :)
