Nope, nope, nope. Just ... all the nope.

I don't even know where to start. This series is one that I really enjoy, and each installment always manages to make me laugh out loud and break my heart at the same time. In this sense, Nevermore follows the path set out by its predecessors. The very first chapter was a punch straight to the feels that left me reeling (not to mention what it did to Caliban). I also really, really want to invest in a Cal T-shirt collection.

The book fell apart for a couple of different reasons, though. The biggest being the fact that about 60% of it, if not more, is pure internal rambling and backstory. Outside of 3 key scenes, NOTHING HAPPENS. And then, to add a little extra crap to the cracker, when the action finally starts happening we're left with the cliffhanger to end all cliffhangers.

Ultimately, it felt like filler. Or like the first part of a single story that got out of hand because the editor forgot how to edit, so they split it into two books instead of one. Still worth reading, but feel free to skim all the pointless fiddlefaddle. And wait until the next installment comes out.
