I enjoy this world so very much. While Warsworn didn't have the same kind of impact as Warprize in terms of dramatic tension and action, it was still a great read. The focus this time around was less on the action and more on the world-building and character development. If that's your thing, you're gonna love it! If you're the type of reader who prefers a tight, fast-paced plot, probably not so much. Which isn't to say that the plot is bad, it's actually pretty good. It's just that it's almost secondary to the world/character-building.

I've read some complaints about Lara's whining, but I didn't find it off-putting at all. In fact, it made it much more believable as far as I was concerned. You can't tell me that someone completely immersed in a totally different culture, and put in a very visible, responsible position wouldn't get a bit overwhelmed! Lara's not perfect, and neither is Kier. It's one of my favourite things about them.

The novel wraps up nicely, with enough teaser to make me look forward to the next book, but foregoing the rage inducing cliff-hanger.
