(Book #5 of the Parasol Protectorate series)
Rating: 🍁🍁🍁
Meh. Not the best series-ender I've ever read. Which isn't to say that I didn't like it - all of the elements of Carriger's writing that I so enjoy were there. The witty repartee, the wonderfully colourful characters, the delightful settings and fashions...so much to love!
What was missing was a coherent, comprehensible plot. There are so many loose ends! And so much of what happens seems contrived and ultimately unnecessary. Or far too convenient to be believable.
