I remember being kind of hesitant about this book when I read the description way back when I ordered it from my local library, not sure about whether I'd like it or not.
Turns out I had nothing to worry about! Graceling by Kristin Cashore is one of my favourite reads so far this year. If Hollywood is smart they'll turn this into a movie because it has everything a good movie (and book) needs - action, romance, compelling plot, evil villians, relatable characters who deal with real emotions, beautiful scenery...need I say more?
The one thing I would change, if it were in my power to do so, would be to rename the main characters. Every time I read the name Katsa, I couldn't help but think of catsup (or ketchup), and thanks to Dreamworks, the name Po shall forever remind of an overweight panda with the voice of Jack Black. Sexy, right?
Still, that's an incredibly minor issue and doesn't really detract from the story at all. Also, I love the cover art. So very pretty!
