I really can't say enough about how awesome this series is. I love how Kaylin grows and develops as a person in every book. I love how rich in detail and magic the world is. I love the wry humour that brings balance to otherwise intense reads. I love the entire cast of fully developed and fascinating characters.
In this particular installment, I love the developments in Kaylin's relationships with both Nightshade and Severn. I'm so torn as to which one I'm rooting for in this almost-but-not-quite-love-triangle. We get to see a lot more of the Arkon this time around as well, and meet the Dragon who will be responsible for attempting to teach Kaylin proper Court etiquette. I can't wait to see how that plays out!
My only issue, which is the same for every book in the series, is that I get lost once the heavy magic starts happening. I can follow it enough that I get the gist of what's going on, but I never really fully grasp it. It feels kind of like I'm reading with a head full of cotton, if that makes any sense.
Don't let that stop you from reading the series, though. I certainly won't!
